A walk through my graduate degree journey, the ups, downs, and the sideways!

Me on my Grad Walk Day at George Mason University

POV: It’s the year 2019, it’s been two years since I received my undergraduate degree. It’s the year, where I have become open to the idea of pursuing a graduate degree. The year, where I start exploring programs and start talking to colleges. This time as a full-time employee applying for part-time online graduate programs.

In the fall of 2019, I am enrolled in the Masters of Science, Data Analytics Engineering (DAEN) program at George Mason University. I start my first course and dive deeper into the world of data analytics. As part of most online courses, we had discussion boards which are a platform to communicate with professors and fellow students. One of the questions which every professor asks as part of introduction week is to answer “Why are you enrolled in DAEN?”. I didn’t understand the value of this until I was 4 courses in and realized how difficult this path of pursuing higher education is. Being reminded of the “why” at the beginning of the course gives you the motivation needed to keep going.
